However, it was the 1999 B5-generation RS4* Avant, developed by quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH), that truly set the standard. Featuring a widened body and a 2.7-liter biturbo six-cylinder engine developed in collaboration with Cosworth, it delivered an impressive 280 kW (380 PS). Enhanced agility is achieved through the quattro sport differential, which emphasizes rearward bias in dynamic driving mode.
