Maruti Suzuki Scales Up Road Safety In India

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is strengthening its commitment to road safety in Uttar Pradesh through a significant expansion of its CSR initiative. Following the success of previous automation projects, the automotive giant has partnered with the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department to automate 12 additional driving license test tracks across key locations in the state. This expansion is part of a broader effort to enhance transparency and improve the efficiency of the driving test process.

12 Driving Test Tracks to Be Automated

The driving test tracks in Aligarh, Azamgarh (2), Basti, Bareilly, Gonda, Jhansi, Meerut, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, and Pratapgarh will now be automated. These tracks are designed to accommodate tests for two-wheelers, light motor vehicles (LMVs), and heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), ensuring a wide range of candidates can be evaluated for their driving competency.

Previously, Maruti Suzuki successfully automated five driving test tracks in Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Mathura, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. This project brings the total number of automated tracks in Uttar Pradesh to 17, solidifying the company’s leadership in enhancing road safety through technological innovation.

Maruti Suzuki’s Commitment to Road Safety

Appreciating Maruti Suzuki’s efforts, Shri Dayashankar Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Transport, Uttar Pradesh, remarked, “The automation of driving test tracks by Maruti Suzuki has made the process of issuing driving licenses more scientific, transparent, and efficient. With these additional tracks, we are taking significant steps toward reducing accidents and improving road safety in the state.”

Rahul Bharti, Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are grateful to the Government of Uttar Pradesh for their trust in us. Automating the driving license testing process will ensure that only qualified candidates receive licenses, contributing to reduced road accidents.”

The Five Pillars of Road Safety

Maruti Suzuki’s road safety initiatives focus on five core pillars: Engineering, Education, Evaluation, Enforcement, and Emergency Care. The automation of driving license test tracks addresses the “Evaluation” pillar, ensuring a rigorous and standardized process with no manual intervention.

The newly automated tracks will be equipped with high-definition cameras and an integrated IT system, offering a fully computerized and transparent testing process. Candidates will be evaluated according to Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), with technology ensuring that results are generated automatically, making the process more reliable and objective.

Transforming Road Safety

This initiative is set to revolutionize how driving tests are conducted in Uttar Pradesh, providing a model for other states to follow. By incorporating technology and automation, Maruti Suzuki is not only contributing to road safety but also improving public trust in the licensing system.

With road safety being a critical issue in India, this automation effort aligns with both Maruti Suzuki’s CSR goals and Uttar Pradesh’s vision to enhance safety on the roads, ensuring that only skilled and capable drivers receive licenses.

As this partnership grows, it will play a pivotal role in reducing traffic accidents, saving lives, and creating safer roads for all.
