Tata Motors produced 1 million cars from the Sanand plant in Gujrat
Tata Motors, the prominent automotive manufacturer in India, proudly celebrates a significant milestone in its manufacturing journey by rolling out the 1 millionth car from its cutting-edge facility located in Sanand, Gujarat. This achievement underscores Tata Motors’ unwavering commitment to innovation, aimed at delivering top-notch products that enhance consumer satisfaction. It also stands as a testament to the relentless efforts and dedication of the Sanand facility’s team, whose pivotal role has been instrumental in reaching this remarkable milestone.
Established in 2010 and sprawling across 1100 acres, encompassing 741 acres for Tata Motors and 359 acres for the Vendor Park, the Sanand plant has emerged as a cornerstone of Tata Motors’ growth trajectory. With over 6000 direct and indirect employees, this facility is one of Tata Motors’ youngest plants, equipped with state-of-the-art technology across all operational facets.
The plant operates with a highly mechanized setup and employs a lean process management system. It encompasses essential components like the press line, weld shop, paint shop, assembly line, and powertrain shop. Renowned for its flexibility, the assembly line at Sanand is capable of producing various models of passenger vehicles, including Tiago, Tiago AMT, Tiago.Ev, Tiago i-CNG, Tigor, Tigor AMT, Tigor EV, Tigor i-CNG, and XPRES-T EV. What’s noteworthy is the plant’s successful transition from a single-model setup to a multi-model facility, boasting 100% asset management and utilization.
Reflecting on this momentous occasion, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed immense pride, stating, We stand with immense pride as we mark the achievement of rolling out the 1 millionth car from our esteemed Sanand plant. Furthermore, Tata Motors has remained steadfast in its commitment to social upliftment, with the Sanand plant undertaking various CSR initiatives aimed at fostering positive change in the surrounding communities. Over the years, the plant has adopted more than 68 villages in and around Sanand, Bavla, and Viramgam. Key initiatives include the establishment of toilets, skill development programs for women to enhance employability, and initiatives focused on the health and education of the girl child. Over the past 13 years, Tata Motors’ CSR endeavors have positively impacted over 3 lakh lives in the Sanand vicinity, underscoring the company’s holistic approach towards community development.
