FUSO Unveils Comprehensive Update for Canter Light-Duty Trucks
FUSO, a Daimler Truck brand, has announced an extensive upgrade to its popular Canter light-duty truck lineup, promising enhanced safety features and improved comfort across its range. The refresh will cover Canter variants weighing 6.0 t, 7.5 t, and 8.55 t, with a focus on modernizing the cab design and bolstering driving comfort for the eCanter electric model.
Safety and Comfort at the Forefront
Florian Schulz, Head of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Services at FUSO Europe, remarked, “With its smallest turning circle, high payload, and unparalleled versatility, the iconic FUSO Canter has been a global bestseller for decades among light-duty trucks. We are thrilled to introduce a significant upgrade in safety and comfort to our customers.”
The revamped interior of the Canter now mirrors the cabin of the eCanter, featuring a contemporary aesthetic with functional enhancements. A centerpiece of the upgrade is the 6.95-inch touchscreen radio, offering DAB+ reception and compatibility with Apple CarPlayTM and Android Auto. A user-friendly multifunction steering wheel provides easy control of the new digital LCD instrument panel, maintaining the Canter’s reputation for low interior noise levels, excellent visibility, and accessibility.
Furthermore, Canter’s fuel tank is now crafted from robust plastic, while on-board tools and jack are stored in external boxes on the frame. The Canter also boasts a fleet management interface as standard, enhancing operational efficiency.
Comprehensive Safety Suite
The Canter undergoes a comprehensive safety overhaul, with additional sensors and cameras enhancing protection for occupants and pedestrians. The updated Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA 6) now detects moving and stationary vehicles, crossing pedestrians, bicycles, and motionless pedestrians. Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), Attention Assist, and Intelligent Speed Assistance are among the eight new or updated safety features ensuring comprehensive coverage from all directions.
Other safety enhancements include a camera behind the vehicle for improved rear visibility, a tire pressure monitoring system with temperature display, and an Emergency Stop signal to warn following traffic during sudden braking.
eCanter Innovations
In addition to safety upgrades, the all-electric eCanter receives several new features, including cruise control and sequential turn signal illumination. With an expanded array of 46 variants and three different battery configurations, the eCanter now offers even greater versatility across various applications.
